Known for directing and producing some of the most iconic films in Indian cinema, Vidhu Vinod Chopra's cinema is nothing short of poetry on celluloid. His latest directorial Shikara will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 4th April.

Here’s the list of five movies directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra that you can binge-watch in this quarantine period:

1. Shikara (2020)

Based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits and what they faced during the time of Islamist insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir in the early 1990s, this movie takes us through the journey and struggles of a Kashmiri Pandit couple as they try to survive in dire situations living as refugees in their own country. Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, this beautiful love story stars debutants Aadil Khan and Sadia in the lead roles.

2. Eklavya: The Royal Guard (2007)

Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Raima Sen, Jackie Shroff, Jimmy Sheirgill and Boman Irani, Eklavya revolved around how an old royal guard does his best to maintain the secrets of the royal family he serves, even though the royal dynasty no longer rules, and proves that his loyalty will always be with that family. Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Eklavya is visually stunning with every frame like a painting on silver screen.

3. Mission Kashmir (2000)

Who can ever forget the rage Hrithik Roshan and Priety Zinta starrer created in the early 2000s with their chemistry and the beautiful song, Bumbro in Chopra’s Mission Kashmir? The movie follows the journey of Altaaf Khan as he sets out to seek revenge for his parents death, but he must fight his inner conflicts of good versus evil.

4. 1942: A Love Story (1994)

Starring Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala, 1942: A Love Story has been a landmark film in the history of Hindi cinema. The film gives us a heart-wrenching story of Naren and Rajjo who fall in love with each other during the political unrest created by the British Raj in the year 1942. Pancham Da in his last musical work created gems like 'Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga' & 'Kuch na kaho'. This film and its music have definitely secured a position as a classic in Indian cinema.

5. Parinda (1989)

One of the greatest genre defining films ever made in India, Parinda changed the way films were made in the 80s. It brought together a crisp storyline and memorable performances by Anil, Jackie and Nana, that made it a masterpiece. Parinda is the story of two brothers who get caught up in the world of gang leaders and pay a heavy price to avenge the deaths of their loved ones. Vidhu Vinod Chopra with his vision made sure that this unique script translated into a cult film on the 70mm canvas. Parinda is easily one of the top choices of any Indian cinema lover.
