Star Plus show ‘Imlie’ recently witnessed a major development with actor Gashmeer Mahajani exiting the show. ‘Ishq Mein Marjawan’ actor Manasvi Vashist has been roped in to play the role of Aditya Tripathi in the show.

India Forums got in touch with actress Preet Kaur Nayak aka Rupi of ‘Imlie’ and asked her about her thoughts on Gashmeer’s exit from the show. The actress said, “Honestly, Gashmeer and I never really bonded well. I found him intimidating at times. But now, when I look back, I’ve decoded the reason behind the same. Gashmeer gave his all for the character of Aditya Kumar Tripathi. He had a pattern of prepping up for the scenes and would thoroughly read the script and would enter the floor with the mood that of Aditya in the particular scene. He would carry the same mood throughout the day. If Aditya is happy, he will look and sound chirpy while if he is angry in the scene, Gashmeer would act likewise even offscreen and that’s the reason why I never connected with Gashmeer as he was almost always ‘Aditya’ on the sets”.

Talking about fond memories with Gashmeer, Preet said, “Oh! There are so many. While we never bonded off-screen, there was an unsaid comfort on-screen. We didn’t use to rehearse the scenes much but when the director used to say ‘action’, we would just get into the zone and there was a great amount of give and take during the scene. Our scenes were also loved by many and they were genuinely effortless”.

She added, “I still remember that Gashmeer used to go round and round in circles to learn his dialogues. It was tougher for him as he’s mainly from the Marathi film industry. He would run around learning his dialogues aloud and would often shout at himself for taking a while in learning the dialogues or goofing up. It used to be an amusing sight. He would take time to learn dialogues so that he can take time to emote well once the camera rolls. His cute fumbles would often leave the entire sets rolling on the floor laughing”.

Talking about bidding adieu to the actor, Preet said, “Well, his concluding scenes were shot in the Pagdandiya sets where most of the Tripathi family weren’t present. Plus, I had a personal emergency that time around because of which I couldn’t visit the sets. Hence, didn’t get the chance to bid goodbye to him. However, he will always remain by ‘Sadhu Adi Bhai’ (smiles)”.
