'From what I've heard..': Sheen Das on Hitesh Bharadwaj & Rachi Sharma replacing previous cast of Aami Daakini

Sheen Das, who is all set to essay the central character of 'Dakini' in Hitesh Bharadwaj and Rachi Sharma starrer 'Aami Dakini,' recently got in an exclusive chat with us and addressed the overnight cast change on the show recently. Promos of Aami Dakini starring Rohit Chandel in the titular role were earlier released. However, the cast was then changed overnight, after which Hitesh Bharadwaj and Rachi Sharma were roped in as the new leads on the show. While Rohit and the female lead were replaced, Sheen Das was retained as the 'Dakini.'

Speaking to us about the same, the actress opened up on what exactly led to this overnight change and stated that she was not 'kept in loop.' ''I wasn’t aware of it. They didn’t keep me in the loop. We had already started shooting and had completed a few episodes. From what I heard—though I’m not sure if it’s appropriate for me to comment—it seems they wanted to change the storyline entirely. They were planning to take the story in a completely new direction.''

Earlier speaking to us about the show and essaying a supernatural character, Sheen said, ''This was very interesting because, you know, this character—she has to look hauntingly beautiful,” she said. Her look in the promos, which features dark eyes, bold red lips, and a blood-red bridal saree, plays a crucial role in building the character's presence. “Every time I look into the mirror, I feel her, I feel this darkness, and it gives me more fire before I go for the take,” she added.

Aami Dakini draws from Bengali folklore, particularly the legends around dakinis—female spirits known for their mysterious powers. When asked if she had grown up hearing such tales, Sheen shared, “I have heard a lot of stories. I have never experienced it myself, but now while doing this work, I feel that maybe I will also start believing in these things.”
