Sheen Dass calls her character in Aami Dakini 'hauntingly beautiful,': 'I feel this darkness'

Actor Sheen Das is set to make a powerful comeback on television with Sony TV’s upcoming supernatural drama Aami Dakini. In an exclusive chat with India Forums, Sheen spoke about her bold new role, her connection with the story, and how this project stands out from her earlier work.

Ask the actress about the kind of reactions she has been receiving ever since the promo of the show released and the actress says, ''My friends, my family, and I have been reading the comments, and I think this role is very different from anything I’ve done before. I’ve never played a ghost, so I’m really excited about this new opportunity and the chance to explore such a unique character as an actor.''

Talking about her character, Sheen revealed that it’s unlike anything she has done before. “This was very interesting because, you know, this character—she has to look hauntingly beautiful,” she said. Her look in the promos, which features dark eyes, bold red lips, and a blood-red bridal saree, plays a crucial role in building the character's presence. “Every time I look into the mirror, I feel her, I feel this darkness, and it gives me more fire before I go for the take,” she added.

Aami Dakini draws from Bengali folklore, particularly the legends around dakinis—female spirits known for their mysterious powers. When asked if she had grown up hearing such tales, Sheen shared, “I have heard a lot of stories. I have never experienced it myself, but now while doing this work, I feel that maybe I will also start believing in these things.”

Sheen also reflected on her journey from her debut in Piya Albela to playing a much darker, layered role in Ami Dakini. “I am grateful for every character I have got to play. This one, though, is multi-layered—there’s love, betrayal, eternal longing, and revenge. That’s what drew me to it,” she said.

With her return to television in a completely new avatar, Sheen Das is ready to surprise audiences once again.
