'Fighter' goes through CBFC cuts over 'sexually suggested visuals'

We are less than a few days away from the arrival of the bonanza opus that is the film Fighter. There couldn't have been a more opportune time for the film as not only will it be getting an extended weekend release that includes the huge holiday of Republic Day 2024, but also the buzz surrounding the grand opening of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya just makes up for people's holiday spirits even more.

The film has already received a censor certificate with a sealed runtime, and the advance bookings have already begun. So far, it has been a good start, but an important news update is coming in when it comes to the censor cuts. A report in Bollywood Hungama suggests that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked for four cuts in the film. Apart from the inclusion of an anti-smoking message in Hindi, a cuss word is asked to be muted or replaced in two dialogues - one appears at 53 minutes and the other at 1 hour 18 minutes. Then, ‘sexually suggested visuals’ were removed. These 8 seconds of visuals were probably replaced by ‘suitable shots’. Lastly, 25 seconds of the audio in a TV news visual scene was removed and replaced with 23 seconds of audio.

Post these changes being practiced, the film has received a U/A certificate and has a runtime of 166 minutes which means, it is 2 hours and 46 minutes long, The film is set to release on January 25. As one would remember, exactly last year, around the same time when Pathaan was set to have a release, a similar story ensued where the CBFC had objected and asked for tweaks over these 'hot scenes.'

Nevertheless, we are certain everyone cannot wait for the arrival of Fighter.
