'Fighter' faces box office struggles in domestic markets; rakes in Rs 6.35 on day 7 of it's run

As the curtains close on the seventh day since its release on January 25, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer "Fighter" continues to grapple with disappointing box office figures in the domestic market. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, experienced no recovery on its seventh day, earning approximately Rs 6.35 crore nett in India, a decline of Rs 1.15 crore from the previous day's collection of Rs 7.5 crore nett, according to early estimates on Sacnilk.com.

Despite a promising opening weekend that garnered Rs 118.5 crore, "Fighter" faced an unexpected downturn on Monday with a single-figure collection of Rs 8 crore, a trend that persisted throughout the week. The film's total earnings in its opening week now stand at Rs 140.35 crore nett in India, with an overall occupancy rate of 11.89 percent on Wednesday.

While the film grapples with challenges domestically, it seems to be finding a more favorable reception internationally. Taran Adarsh, a prominent film trade analyst, expressed surprise at the film's underperformance in India despite boasting star-studded cast and a director with a solid track record. He tweeted, "FIGHTER’ shocks India, rocks overseas… The underperformance of Fighter has sent shock waves within the industry… Yet, the dwindling numbers in #India are a complete shocker."

"Fighter" features a stellar cast, including Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi, alongside Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. Released a day before Republic Day 2024, the film garnered mixed to positive reviews from both fans and critics.
