The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned actor Armaan Jain, grandson of Raj Kapoor and the cousin of actors Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
The ED had conducted a raid at Armaan’s house on Tuesday, February 10, in connection with Tops Grup’s 175 crores money laundering case and issued a summon against him.
According to a report in India Today, Armaan's name came up when the ED was probing a money laundering case filed against Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik. Jain is reportedly a friend of Sarnaik's son Vihang, who was earlier questioned by the ED.
Sources told India Today that ED had found some suspicious communication between Armaan and Vihang due to which the search was conducted at his residence and he has been asked to join the investigation.
The officials had reportedly searched the actor’s residence at Altamount Road in South Mumbai, where he lives with his wife Anissa Malhotra and mother Reema Kapoor Jain among others. The raid was conducted on the same day when his uncle Rajiv Kapoor passed away due to a cardiac arrest.
Due to the unfortunate circumstances, Reema Kapoor was allowed to leave the house and go visit her brother’s residence. Armaan was also allowed to stand by the Kapoor family during this difficult time.
Raj Kapoor's youngest son, Rajiv Kapoor, passed away on Tuesday, after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of 58. While Kapoor’s last rites took place in Mumbai in presence of family and friends, no chautha will be held due to the current pandemic circumstances, as informed by the Kapoor family.
