DJ Aqeel Reminisces About Wild Parties with Salman Khan and Abhishek Bachchan: 'They Used to Drink and Party'

Bollywood parties have always been a subject of fascination for fans, who often wonder what goes on when their favourite stars come together for a night of celebration. DJ Aqeel, a popular name who has played at many Bollywood parties, recently opened up about the fun-filled, unfiltered days of Bollywood bashes in a conversation with Siddharth Kannan. According to him, earlier, actors were much more carefree, letting loose without the fear of cameras or social media intrusion.

DJ Aqeel shared his experience from his early days. These stars would enjoy their time without worrying about being photographed, allowing them to have genuine fun.

I got my first gig at JW Marriot’s Enigma. Before that, I only played at private parties. The club used to have all hotshots: Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham, Dino Morea, you name it. Both Senior and Junior Bachchan used to party together.

However, things have changed dramatically with the rise of social media. He continued, “Now they are scared to enter a club because every second person wants to take pictures with them. They disturb them. There is no peace of mind. They used to come, drink, and party without stress. On their songs, they would do their moves. People used to dance to all hero songs: Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan.”

DJ Aqeel also recalled that parties were once held at bungalows, homes, or even yachts. “At home parties, the clients were very particular about ‘wire nahi dikhna chahiye.’ We used to arrive about three hours before to set up. I used to play non-stop for hours,” he said. These gatherings were wild, fun, and camera-free, letting celebrities truly enjoy their time. According to him, today’s celebrities are more cautious, as the presence of social media has completely changed the dynamics of Bollywood parties.
