Directors Aditya, Nishikant say salaam Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 13 (IANS) Aditya Bhattacharya and Nishikant Kamath, two directors from contrasting backgrounds and with different visions, are set to pay cinematic homage to the city of Mumbai.

Aditya, son of the late avant-garde filmmaker Basu Bhattacharya, will be making 'Mumbai's Most Wanted'. The film will take a look at the city's underbelly with humour, pathos and alarm.

Aditya had directed Aamir Khan in one of his first films 'Raakh'.

'What's the film about? Bar girls, cops, criminals, politicians and other luminaries of Bombay,' says producer Anubhav Sinha, who's deeply impressed by Aditya's talents.

Nishikant too is ready to launch the other major Mumbai movie of the season and says the city's working class fascinates him.

'My earlier film 'Dombivli Fast' explored the common middle-class man's anxieties and neuroses. I'd be going down the same road in my new Hindi film 'Mumbai Meri Jaan', which I start shooting later this month.'

Interestingly, both these films have Mumbai's working class at their helm and the hero is clearly the city.

Anurag Basu's 'Metro' also looked at a more upwardly mobile community in Mumbai. But Basu says his film too was a homage to the city that never sleeps.
