Did Dhanashree Verma Reach Out to Uorfi Javed Amid Divorce from Yuzvendra Chahal?

The ongoing divorce rumors between cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma have created a stir on social media. While Dhanashree faced heavy criticism online, Uorfi Javed stood up for her, calling out the unfair treatment of women in such cases. Now, Uorfi has hinted that Dhanashree personally reached out to her after she showed support.

During a recent podcast on Humans of Bombay, Uorfi spoke about the controversy. She did not directly take names but referred to her Instagram story, where she had defended Dhanashree. When host Karishma Mehta discussed how Dhanashree received negative comments, Uorfi shared her side of the story.

I had posted a story in support of her because I thought she was being treated very unfairly. She reached out to me and thanked me for the support as she was going through a very difficult time.

Earlier, in January, Uorfi had shared a strong message on Instagram, slamming the constant blaming of women in breakups and divorces. She wrote, “Every time a cricketer is breaking up or getting divorced, the woman is bashed left, right, and center just because in our head, our cricketer is our hero. None of us have any idea what happened between the two, or even in Natasha and Hardik’s case, but of course, it’s the woman who is at fault. Oh, and don’t forget when Anushka was blamed for Virat’s bad performances. Remember? So it’s always the woman who is to be blamed for the man’s actions? These are grown men with fully functioning brains who know what they are doing.”

She also pointed out how Hardik Pandya and Natasa Stankovic’s separation led to Natasa facing backlash. “In our minds, the cricketers are heroes and they never do anything wrong. Is the cricketer not a sensible person? Couldn’t he tell if the girl had married him for the money?” Uorfi questioned.

Meanwhile, reports of Dhanashree and Chahal’s divorce started when they unfollowed each other on Instagram. They got married in December 2020, after meeting during the Covid-19 pandemic when Chahal approached her for dance lessons.

Chahal’s lawyer, Nitin K Gupta, confirmed that the divorce had been filed. “Mr. Chahal reached a settlement for obtaining divorce by mutual consent with Mrs. Verma. A petition was presented before the Hon’ble Family Court, Bandra. The matter is currently sub-judice,” he stated. There were also claims that Dhanashree demanded ?60 crore as alimony. However, her family dismissed these rumors, calling them baseless. “No such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. It is deeply irresponsible to publish such unverified information,” they clarified.

While the legal proceedings continue, Uorfi Javed’s support highlights the unfair scrutiny that women often face in high-profile breakups.
