The divorce of Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal, finalized on March 20th, has sparked speculation about the reasons behind their split. While the couple initially cited mutual consent, a new report suggests that disagreements over their living arrangements played a pivotal role.
According to entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani, the couple's differing views on where to reside ultimately led to their separation. After their December 2020 wedding, Dhanashree and Chahal moved to Haryana to live with the cricketer's family. However, Dhanashree's desire to relocate to Mumbai soon after, reportedly met with resistance from Chahal.
After tying the knot, Yuzi and Dhanashree had shifted to stay with Yuzi’s parents in Haryana and came to Mumbai only when they needed to. Yes, this Mumbai-Haryana jhagda was one of the main reasons why this much-in-the-paparazzi-world marriage ended. Yuzi was clear that he wouldn’t uproot himself from his parents’ home and surroundings

Despite the circulating claims, neither Yuzvendra Chahal nor Dhanashree Verma, nor their families, have confirmed this version of the events. In their official statement, the couple stated that they had separated amicably and by mutual agreement.
The Bandra family court granted their divorce on March 20, just before Chahal's commitment to IPL 2025, which began on March 22. Due to the cricketer's prior professional commitments, the couple requested and received a waiver of the mandatory six-month cooling period, usually allotted to encourage reconciliation.
According to Bar and Bench, Yuzvendra Chahal agreed to pay Rs 4.75 crore as alimony to Dhanashree Verma. Reports indicate that he has already paid Rs 2.37 crore, with the remaining amount expected to be settled shortly after their divorce proceedings were finalized.
