The trailer of Dhadak 2, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, has stirred both applause and critique. The film, presented as a spiritual sequel to Dhadak (2018), revisits the theme of caste-driven conflict but with a new setting, a new pair, and a darker tone.

The three-minute trailer opens with an emotionally charged moment—Neelesh (Siddhant) tells Vidhi (Triptii), “Tum mujhse pyaar karti ho naa? Toh mujhse door raho.” She refuses. Their story traces back to a law college, where the two meet. While Vidhi comes across as bold and opinionated, Neelesh appears quieter, grounded. Their bond grows, but it doesn’t sit well with her upper-caste family.

Neelesh is a Dalit law student, and the trailer doesn’t shy away from showing the hurdles he faces. At one point, when Vidhi says, “I thought all of this was a matter of past,” Neelesh replies, “Those who never go through it feel like that, Vidhi.”

Saurabh Sachdeva also appears in the trailer, though briefly. His presence is sharp, and he seems to bring a certain tension to the story. While many viewers were quick to praise the trailer for its mood and intensity, a section of social media flagged something else. Several users pointed out Siddhant’s visibly darkened skin tone in the role of Neelesh. One user wrote, “Not the f**king brownface on the dude, just why???” Another said, “Can’t Bollywood show a lower caste character without browning up the actor?”

Still, some comments leaned positive. “Badhiya trailer h ekdam,” one user posted. “I'm not Sid's fan, but after reading vile comments about him yesterday, I’m rooting for him.” Another added, “The intrigue factor is better than Dhadak 1 for sure… just wish they hadn’t revealed everything in the trailer.”

Dhadak 2 is a remake of the 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, which was part of the growing anti-caste narrative in Tamil cinema. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the Hindi version is set to hit theatres on August 1. As the trailer continues to gather views, it’s clear the film has sparked curiosity—and also an important conversation.
