New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS) Designer Ritu Beri, who has not been very visible on the fashion and social circuit of late, staged a comeback of sorts when she offered a sneak peek at her bridal collection for the upcoming Bridal Asia 2008 here Wednesday.

The 10th edition of Bridal Asia will be held at the Ashoka Hotel Oct 7-9 and will bring leading bridal couturiers, wedding planners, life-style designers and jewellery design houses under one roof.

'My collection is very feminine and brides will surely look unique in every outfit,' Beri said.

'I have used a lot of swarovski in my collection because brides are already overloaded with heavy jewellery and their whole look gets spoilt. With this, they can put minimal jewellery and yet look elegant at the same time,' she added.

For this collection, Beri has used subtle colours like grey, white and gold to give brides a contemporary look.

'I have used feather weights and rich fabrics like chiffon, organza, silk and lace to give a magical look to the bride. I have also used a lot of draping and layering in all my lehengas and silhouettes,' explained Beri.

Beri, best known for her couture designs, is also the first Asian designer to head a French fashion brand, Scherrer.

The designer launched her label Ritu Beri way back in 1990. These days, the designer is missing from fashion events and the party circuit.

Commenting on this, Beri said: 'Right now my hands are pretty full. I was never a party person and my personal life has always been my priority.'

'I am participating in this event just for my friend, Divya Gurwara, who has been after me for the past three years. Finally, I am part of it,' Beri told IANS.
