Deepika Padukone is one of Bollywood's most sought after actresses. She has a massive fan base, and the actress is never hesitant to voice her opinions. The Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani actress has openly discussed mental health and how she coped with depression, and she has always gone out of her way for helping others who are dealing with similar issues. In a recent interview, the actress discussed how mental health is portrayed in Indian cinema.

Deepika was questioned as to how much further she believes we deserve to go in aspects of a more comprehensive representation of mental health in Indian cinema and how are we going to get there.

"With understanding and empathy," Deepika Padukone responded. She explained that if an actor was playing a persona with a physical ailment, they would conduct extensive research and thorough research in order to determine the best way to depict their situation. Mental illnesses should be treated with the same respect. Actors, writers, and directors, she believes, should not be winging it.

"We should afford the same honesty and authenticity to characters with mental illnesses as we do to biopics."

Deepika Padukone also stated that one of her personal goals for the next few years is to have a therapist on film sets.

“We have a doctor on set, so I don’t see why we can’t have a mental health professional too. During Chhapaak (2020), I brought on a therapist for myself because there were days where I would have a panic attack or feel claustrophobic,”

she exclaimed.

On the professionl front, Deepika Padukone has a slew of projects slated for the coming year. She will next be seen in Pathaan alongside Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham.

so that Actors could take all the credit, while Make-up artists, Dress Designers, technicians, gets overshadowed. Technicians never get their due credit, or reimbursements they deserve to make actors, and movies look good.

Shame that its 2022, and things haven't changed for technicians, and here an actress wants therapist to add on to peons they have
