Deepika Padukone, Rekha, Vicky Kaushal and others attend special screening of Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi

Alia Bhatt's upcoming movie, Gangubai Kathiawadi is set to release on Friday. Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, and Janhvi Kapoor were among those who attended the special screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film on Wednesday. 

Alia dolled up in a white salwar suit for the event. Just like she has been promoting the film in white ensembles. Meanwhile, Deepika also arrived for the Gangubai Kathiawadi screening in a white saree. Rekha and Shabana Azmi, two veteran performers, also attended the screening dressed in white. While being photographed by the paparazzi, Rekha even did an Alia-style namaste. 

Rumoured couple Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday also attended the film screening. Arjun Kapoor and his girlfriend Malaika Arora saw the movie together as well. The screening was also attended by Javed Akhtar, Kriti Sanon, Janhvi Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D'Souza, Sara Ali Khan, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Rima Jain, and filmmaker Shashank Khaitan. 

Alia Bhatt plays Gangubai Kathiawadi, a young lady who was forced into the sex trade and went on to become a renowned figure in Mumbai's Kamathipura. Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, and others stars in the film.

Recently, the film ended up in legal trouble after Congress MLA  Amin Patel filed a plea in the Bombay High Court to change the film's name, stating that it misrepresents Kamathipura as a red-light district while portraying the Kathiawadi community in a negative way. There were a few other objections to the film. The Supreme Court recommended that the film's title be changed on Wednesday.
