Deepika Padukone joins Prabhas in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 'Spirit': Here’s everything we know

Deepika Padukone is on a signing spree, and her fans have every reason to celebrate. After coming on board as the female lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Siddharth Anand’s King, latest reports now confirm that the actress will also star alongside Prabhas in director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit.

According to reports, Vanga had envisioned Deepika in the film from the very beginning. However, when Spirit was initially planned to go on floors by the end of 2024, Deepika had to decline the offer due to scheduling conflicts related to her pregnancy. With the project now delayed and rescheduled, the makers approached her once again and this time, she gave the green light.

Insiders reveal that Deepika was highly impressed by the layered and strong character she has been offered in Spirit. It’s one of the most well-written female roles in Vanga’s filmography, a report stated. The depth of the character and the overall story deeply moved her. This will be her first collaboration with the Kabir Singh and Animal director, and she’s extremely excited, it added.

Spirit also marks Deepika’s reunion with Prabhas, following their pairing in Kalki 2898 AD. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film is currently locking in its supporting cast. While Prabhas and Deepika are confirmed, changes are being made to other major characters, including the antagonists. As per current plans, Spirit is expected to begin shooting in October 2025 and is eyeing a theatrical release in the first half of 2027.

Deepika’s calendar is now packed till the end of 2026. Alongside Spirit and King, the actress is also in talks for another mega-budget film, details of which are still under wraps. Moreover, she’s gearing up for two major sequels, Kalki 2 and Pathaan 2, which are expected to start filming around late 2026 or early 2027.

With such a power-packed lineup, Deepika Padukone continues to solidify her position as one of the most bankable and versatile actresses in the industry.
