Cricket Field to Cinema! Irfan Pathan makes Acting Debut; Deets inside

Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan is all set for his second innings, as an Actor! He is currently a part of the experts' panel in ongoing India vs South Africa Test series and is gearing up for this new chapter of his life. Irfan is ready to make his acting debut, with a South Indian movie starring South superstar Vikram, popularly known as Chiyaan among fans.

 The left-arm bowler took to Twitter to announce this good news and wrote, "New venture, new challenge looking forward to it".

The movie is tentatively titled 'Vikram 58' and will be directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu who has directed films like Demonte Colony, Imaikkaa Nodigal in the past. The principal photography for the Vikram film will begin soon, and it will be shot in multiple locations across India and different countries, states a press release. While AR Rahman will be scoring the music for this big project, Sivakumar Vijayan will be responsible for camerawork in this film.

Any further details of Irfan’s character in the movie are yet to be disclosed. 

Director Ajay Gnanamuthu too took to his Twitter to share a picture with the ace cricketer and welcome him to the world of movies. “Welcome on board @IrfanPathan Can’t wait to unleash your new avatar to the audience!! Time for some solid action!!,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Irfan hasn't played an international match since 2012, and last wore the international jersey during a Twenty20 International (T20I) match against Sri Lanka on October 2, 2012.

He also represented India in 102 ODIs wherein he scalped 173 wickets and also scored 1,544 runs, with the help of five fifties. In 24 T20Is that he played he sent 28 batsmen packing, reported NDTV Sports.

Having served such an extensive and successful career on the cricket field, it will be exciting to watch Irfan on the big screen.
