'Continue to like me' - Nihira Joshi

The voice behind “Mera Dil” and “Babuji Dheere Chalna” from Salaam-e-Ishq, Nihira Joshi has captured the hearts of various music lovers with her sweet voice during SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005. She had a critical acclaim and though she could not make it to the finals of Challenge 2005, she is one amongst those budding singers to have sung songs for leading music directors. From Bunty aur Babli, Alag, 88 Antop Hill, Marie Gold to Salaam-e-Ishq, Nihira has given one super hit song after the other. We caught up with Nihira to know about her future plans.

After participating in reality shows, life has changed for many contestants. When quizzed how it feels to receive so much of name and fame, Nihira quipped, “I discovered myself after SaReGaMaPa. I am still the same Nihira and I feel really good to have been liked by many music lovers”. Nihira has always been known for singing soft romantic songs. So, what kind of songs can we hear from you? “I love music and I am willing to sing any song from good music to good poetry. I love singing classical as well. If I like the music and lyrics, I would definitely prefer singing them”, adds Nihira in her melodious voice.

Nihira also shares her experience of working with the leading music director, Shankar Ehsaan and Loy. “It’s amazing working with them. I have been associated with them even before SaReGaMaPa and have sung for them in Bunty aur Babli. They have been giving me good support in the industry along with Monty Sharma and Ismail Darbar”. Nihira also aspires to work with Vishal Bharadwaj and adds, “I will work with people who compose good music and appreciate the work”. There are many contestants who have come out of various reality shows, but Nihira is one to have got many offers and recognition. How do you feel about this? “My working is not related to SaReGaMaPa. It’s my destiny. I have been associated with the music directors way before I participated in SaReGaMaPa”. When enquired about her future plans, she kept her mouth zipped and just added, “In the music industry, we are not sure of any recording, until it comes out in the market. I have been getting offers, but I cannot reveal anything right now. You will get to know when the album is released”. We have seen many contestants taking out their album, so can we expect one from Nihira as well? “It will happen when it has to happen. I am waiting for that right time”. Anything you want to convey to your fans? “Continue to like me and Love me”, quips the charming girl.
