Comedy Star Rakesh Poojary DIES during live event

Rakesh Poojary, celebrated for his contributions to Comedy Khiladigalu, tragically passed away at the young age of 33 during the early morning hours of May 11, 2025. The Kannada comedian and actor was present at his friend's mehendi ceremony, held in the Karkala region of Karnataka, when he succumbed to a sudden and fatal heart attack.

According to preliminary reports, Rakesh collapsed without warning at the event and could not be revived by those present. Despite immediate efforts to transport him to a nearby hospital, he was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival, and medical professionals were unable to save him. The news has deeply saddened fans and colleagues alike.

Hailing from Udupi, Rakesh, son of Dinakar and Shambhavi, attended Carmel High School in Kemmanu and Milagres College, Kallianpur. He skyrocketed to fame by winning Comedy Khiladigalu Season 3 on Zee Kannada, securing a trophy, a cash prize of Rs 8 lakh, and widespread adoration. His charm and wit endeared him to audiences, particularly in coastal Karnataka.

Rakesh's journey into the performing arts began with his involvement in the renowned theater group Chaitanya Kalavidaru, which provided him with a solid foundation in comedy. His early appearances on the Tulu reality show Kadali Baje also brought him considerable fame and recognition, making him a household name.

Beyond television, Rakesh left his mark on Tulu theatre and cinema. He starred in the Tulu serial "Kadle Bazil" and appeared in Kannada films like "Pailwan" and "Idu Entha Lokavaiya." His Tulu film credits include "Petkammi," "Ammer Police," "Pammanne The Great," "Umil," and "Illokkel." Furthermore, he showcased his talents on regional reality shows, including "Bale Telipale," "May 22," "Star," and "Tooinaye Poye."

It is known that the artist overcame numerous obstacles and difficulties to achieve his high level of success. Rakesh himself once shared that he had endured 150 auditions over a significant period before he was able to establish himself at the top of his profession. His perseverance is a testament to his dedication and passion.
