Ananya Panday churned a number of conversations after she expressed her take on nepotism in the Bollywood industry. During the CNN-News18's The Newcomers Roundtable, her views on nepotism went viral, as she stated that even if she is the daughter of actor Chunky Panday, it’s not easy for her. She had also said that her father is still struggling and stated that her father has not appeared on Koffee With Karan and never been in a Dharma movie.

Her comparison of struggle with a Dharma movie and appearing on Koffee With Karan did not go down well with a lot of people, including actor Siddhant Chaturvedi.

“I have always wanted to be an actor. Just because my dad has been an actor, I will never say no to an opportunity to act. My dad has never been in a Dharma film, he never went on Koffee With Karan. So it’s not as easy as people say. Everyone has their own journey and their own struggle,” Ananya had said, to which Gully Boy’s MC Sher had quite a savage reply:  “Everyone has their own struggle. But difference yahi hai ki jahan hamare sapne poore hotein hai, wahan inka struggle shuru hota hai”

Jawaani Jaaneman star Alaya F too took a subtle dig at Ananya’s nepotism comment. Earlier, her father Chunky had reacted to this controversy and stated that she should stop taking his name, as every time she takes his name, she gets subjected to trolling.

Besides, now daddy Panday has revealed if he was upset with his daughter’s comment about his struggle.

At the SOL Lions Gold Awards 2020, Chunky Panday asserted: "I like coffee a lot (laughs). I will definitely go whenever Karan calls me. And no, I'm not at all upset. I'm very happy that he's taken my daughter in his film.”

Chunky was awarded for his comic role as ‘Aakhri Pasta’ in Farhad Samji's Housefull 4. However, he said he's more interested in taking up grey characters.

"I really like comic roles. I'm doing one in an upcoming Marathi film. But the kind of roles that I'm doing in Saaho or Begum Jaan are my personal favourites. Those are grey characters. Maybe next year, I get awards for those roles, too” Chunky Panday said at the event.

Meanwhile, Ananya is gearing up for her next release, Khaali Peeli opposite Ishaan Khatter, which is slated to release on 12 June 2020.
