Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna's historical action film Chhaava is making waves at the box office. The film has officially crossed the ₹200 crore mark in India, solidifying its status as a major success. The film has surpassed Uri: The Surgical Strike to become Vicky Kaushal's highest-grossing film to date. With strong early estimates, Chhaava has now crossed the ₹242.25 crore mark.
In its first week, the film performed exceptionally well, raking in ₹219.25 crore. It continued to show impressive momentum into its second Friday, earning an estimated ₹23 crore, matching its Monday collections. The historical epic experienced an upward trend over its opening weekend, collecting ₹31 crore on February 14, followed by ₹37 crore on Saturday and ₹48.5 crore on Sunday.
After a slight dip to ₹24 crore on Monday, the film saw a boost on Tuesday with earnings of ₹25.25 crore. Wednesday, coinciding with Shivaji Jayanti, brought in even higher collections of ₹32 crore. However, the week ended with a small decline on Thursday, which generated ₹21.5 crore.
With its total now reaching approximately ₹242.25 crore, Chhaava has officially surpassed Uri: The Surgical Strike to become Vicky Kaushal's highest-grossing film. The war drama previously held the record for the actor's most successful box office performance.
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Chhaava is a historical action film that chronicles the life of Maratha king Sambhaji, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal. The cast also features Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai, Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai. This film is based on the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant. The musical score and soundtrack are crafted by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics written by Irshad Kamil.
While Chhaava is currently in theatres, if a report by OTTplay is to be believed, the film is expected to premiere on Netflix after completing its time in cinemas. However, unlike many recent releases where streaming partnerships are announced in advance, the makers of Chhaava have kept details under wraps. Typically, films land on streaming platforms 45–60 days post-release, but an official update from the team is still awaited.
