Indian television has long served as a crucial medium of entertainment and content for the masses. Initially, its primary focus was solely on providing entertainment, but as time has progressed, the content on television has undergone a remarkable transformation. Gone are the days of Saree-clad bahus and conniving mother-in-laws; instead, we now witness the portrayal of strong, ambitious women who prioritise their careers.

This shift signifies a conscious effort by Indian television to contribute to society and make a positive impact. In this article, we present a compilation of recent shows that transcend the traditional daily soap format and continue to capture viewers' hearts.

Sapnon Ki Chhalaang: Sony TV and the creators of this show have truly elevated the standards. Radhika, a young woman from a humble town, embarks on a journey to Mumbai to pursue her dreams and carve a place for herself. Despite battling societal stereotypes, she gracefully manages to strike a balance between her professional life and her small-town family. What sets this series apart is the unwavering commitment of the creators to the original storyline, devoid of unnecessary drama, twists, or even a romantic subplot. Megha Ray, who portrays Radhika, deserves appreciation for her remarkable performance and portrayal of the character.

Titli: Featuring Avinash Mishra and Neha Solanki, the series "Titli" addresses the poignant issue of domestic violence. Although the show is in its early stages, the captivating promos instill a sense of anticipation and optimism. We earnestly desire that the creators remain true to the core storyline, presenting a fresh and unidealized portrayal of this subject matter, thereby shedding light on it in a powerful and meaningful manner.

Wagle Ki Duniya: Wagle Ki Duniya, portrayed by Sumeet Raghvan, artfully captures the daily challenges faced by an average middle-class individual. With each episode, the show delivers a meaningful social message. Sumeet portrays the character of Rajesh Srinivas Wagle, a manager at a courier company. The series effortlessly weaves together the humorous and light-hearted depiction of the struggles experienced by three generations of a single family.

Katha Ankahee: Derived from the Turkish series "One Thousand and One Nights," Katha Ankahee narrates the tale of Katha, a widowed single mother, and Viaan, the proprietor of an architectural firm. The series unfolds a mature love story blossoming between Katha and Viaan, breaking away from the confines of a typical daily soap. Katha places utmost importance on her career and her child, actively embracing her role as a working woman without succumbing to self-pity, a characteristic often found in characters of traditional soap operas. The dedicated efforts of the creators and cast have yielded remarkable results, with the show consistently reigning atop the online TRP charts. Adnan Khan and Aditi Sharma take on the lead roles in this captivating series.

Pushpa Impossible: Pushpa Impossible is a compelling show that portrays the life of a single mother as a source of strength rather than sympathy. The series follows Pushpa, a resilient woman raising three children on her own, as she manages her household and nurtures her kids independently. Despite being a 9th grade graduate, Pushpa embarks on a journey to further her education after her children tease her about her lack of qualifications. Karuna Pandey Vaidya brilliantly portrays the titular character, Pushpa, in this remarkable show.

Anupamaa: Anupamaa, featuring Rupali Ganguly in the lead role, has emerged as a trailblazer in Indian television, skill-fully addressing the theme of women's empowerment with a delicate yet powerful approach. The show has garnered immense adoration from viewers, solidifying its position as one of the most cherished programs on Indian television. Even to this day, it continues to dominate the TRP charts, holding the top spot with unwavering popularity.

Bade Acche Lagte Hai 3: Undoubtedly, Nakuul Mehta and Disha Parmar form an incredibly popular on-screen couple in the realm of Indian Television. Their immense popularity played a pivotal role in the revival of the show for its third season. Despite being a finite series, the characters of Ram and Priya, portrayed by Nakuul and Disha respectively, have succeeded in carving a special place in the hearts of the audience. Ram's unwavering support for Priya in every conceivable manner, coupled with the show's departure from the conventional daily soap conventions, establishes the undeniable dominance of this season of Bade Acche Lagte Hai.

Although we enjoy entertainment and drama, it is our aspiration to witness an increase in content that actively contributes to society or sheds light on significant issues prevalent in our society.

AJ @ajacob31 5 months ago I am watching only KA and BALH3. BALH3 may not be saas -bahu saga, but it doesn’t deviate from the average pot boiler serials. Looks like KA is the only better one of the list.
