One of the highly anticipated superhero films, Ayan Mukerjee’s Brahmastra, went on floors in 2018 and has been facing a delay ever since, owing to different reasons. The trilogy is yet again postponed to next year, 2021, owing to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic situation.
The fantasy-adventure film stars an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, and South superstar Nagarjuna. The film also stars Mouni Roy and Saurav Gurjar as antagonists and features Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo role. Produced by Karan Johar, Brahmastra, the first film in a planned trilogy, is one of his most ambitious projects.
After films like Sooryavanshi, ‘83 getting affected by the COVID-19, Brahmastra, that was supposed to release in December 2020 has been pushed further to next year.
The shooting of the film was extensively done in Bulgaria, London, Mumbai, Varanasi among other places. Now as per reports in Mid Day, about 20 days of the shoot are left. The report also adds that the footage of the film is sent to London based studio to work on the special effects of the film.
A source told the tabloid, "A large portion of the footage has been sent to the London team so that it can begin working on the visual effects in this period. Aware that outsourcing the job and sharing the content can increase the risk of the film being leaked, Ayan wanted only a core team of experts working on it. The director handpicked a five-member team who are the only people in possession of the footage."
Brahmastra is the story of Shiva (played by Ranbir Kapoor), a reluctant hero who embarks on an unexpected journey of self-discovery and love. Besides, Alia as Isha plays his love interest in the film and Amitabh Bachchan plays Shiva’s guru. It was recently revealed that Nagarjuna will be seen in a special role of an archaeologist, who is on a mission of restoring an ancient temple in Varanasi.
Well, looks like fans will have to wait a bit longer to witness this fantasy adventure film.
