Boys Locker Room: Swara Bhasker, Richa Chadha Slam Delhi Group Chat Discussing Gang Rape

The Boys Locker Room, an Instagram group chat consists of young Dehi based boys who share private pictures of teenage girls, morph the images and discuss gang rape. The Internet was outraged after the group chat went viral with dozen of explicit pictures that are being circulated on the group without the consent and the knowledge of the respective girls.

These photos are further subjected to lewd comments, slut-shaming and body shaming. Private chats accessed by certain users also showed members joking about violence against women and ways to rape minors.  Messages promoting rape culture, like “We can rape her easily” and “I will come whenever you say. We will gang rape her,” were allegedly discussed on the group.

This heinous episode has created a storm online. Bollywood actors Swara Bhasker and Richa Chadha too have opened up and strongly condemned the Boys Locker Room. Reacting to the shocking images and conversations being made at the Instagram group, Richa Chadha took to Twitter, and wrote, “This a multi-faceted problem. Because everyone is still squeamish about sex education in our populous/moralistic country, teenagers are confusing porn for sex education! And now data is free. How dangerous! This will explode in our faces in the next five years sadly,I reckon.”

Without mincing any words, Swara Bhasker tweeted, “#boyslockerroom a telling tale of how toxic masculinity starts young! Underage boys gleefully planning how to rape & gangrape minor girls. Parents & teachers must address this with those Kids.. Not enough to ‘hang rapists’ .. we must attack the mentality that creates rapists!”

Swara also lauded the Mumbai Police’s post slamming the Boys Locker Room incident.  Mumbai Police’s tweet read, “Boys will be boys - never an acceptable excuse earlier, will never be one ever after #StopThemYoung.” Take a look at their tweets below:
