Popular streaming platform ‘Netflix’ has landed itself in soup over it’s latest release ‘Krishna and His Leela’. The Telugu romantic film starring Siddu Jonnalagadda, Shraddha Srinath, Seerat Kapoor and Shalini Vadnikatti in the lead roles has offended many people on the Internet for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
In the film, the lead character ‘Krishna’ has sex with several women, with one of them being named Radha. This has certainly not gone down well with netizens who are boycotting the series and the platform for allegedly ‘insulting’ the Hindu Gods by using the names of deities in erotic content.
#BoycottNetflix has spread like a wildfire on the Internet. Anushka Sharma’s Paatal Lok and Bulbbul and other shows streaming on Netflix have also come under the scanner for hurting religious sentiments.
Prashant Patel Umrao, a practising Advocate at Supreme Court of India also took a dig at the actress amid the ongoing boycott trend. “Netflix Series "Krishna & His Leela" showing Krishna having sexual affairs wth many women & one of them named Radha. This time Netflix & @AnushkaSharma does it together after her series #Patallok. Hopefully Anushka will get Padmashri as reward like Ekta Kapoor. #BoycottNetflix” he wrote.
“Web Series #KrishnaAndHisLeelaOnNetflix showing #Krishna have sexual affairs with many women & one of them named as #Radha. The audacity to openly target #Hinduism wth lies, deceit, propaganda. Why always insult our Gods? Because @NetflixIndia is Hinduphobic. #BoycottNetflix” wrote a user.
“How dare netflix and @AnushkaSharma openly insult hindu Gods in 'bulbul' web series on Netflix. HOW DARE THEY make derogatory, disgusting comments about krishna and radha? They aren't going to stop until we completely boycott netflix. That's the least we can do. #BoycottNetflix” came a comment.
