Ever since the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) went on floors, numerous debates and controversies have come up. Amidst the ongoing protests and war of words taking place on the Internet, the sphere of Bollywood has also not remained untouched by the discussion in question. Many actors, filmmakers and other artists from the entertainment fraternity have voiced their opinions against the violence on students and Delhi riots. However, their reactions have had repercussions and often led to hateful outrage against the actors on social media.
Two very prominent voices that have been perpetual amidst the Delhi riots and anti CAA protests are Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhaskar. The two leading ladies have not stepped away from voicing their opinions and have also stood in support of the anti CAA protests.
While Swara has been on an ongoing spree of speeches, protests and rallies, Taapsee had stood in solidarity in the peaceful protest held at Carter Road in Mumbai. Well, their involvement and support has not gone down well with people on the Internet.
After slamming Deepika Padukone for her JNU visit, netizens have now turned against Taapsee and have started trending #BoycottThappad on social media. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Thappad is a take against domestic violence and hits the theatres this Friday, February 28, 2020.
