Bollywood has given us many iconic characters whom the audience impersonate. Cheerful, self-obsessed, gossip queens, talkative, etc. But these characters can also be found in Indian Television! Is it inspiration or plagiarism, you can decide. Here are a few examples:
Sanaya Irani in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and Sonam Kapoor in Khoobsurat

The smart, decent, down to earth Khushi from Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon can be a good match for Dr. Milli Chakravarty from Khoobsurat. Both have the uncanny ability of pleasing others in every situation. They both also manage to change the mentality of their beaus to make them more amicable and lovable.
Deepika Singh in Diya Aur Baati Hum and Rani Mukerji in Mardaani

The regal and tough woman from Diya aur Baati Hum, Sandhya Rathi can be the perfect Shivani Roy from Mardaani. Both are fighters, and are not afraid of ensuring justice is served. Both are even in the police force! Oh Womaniya!!
Hiba Nawab in Tere Sheher Mein and Kareena Kapoor in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

Oohhh lalalala!! These girls may have an exceptional amount of oomph factor; but it is overshadowed by their self-obsession and attitude. Amaya Mathur from Tere Sheher Mein can be the perfect Pooja Sharma from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum.
Divyanka Tripathi in Ye Hai Mohabbatein and Kareena Kapoor in Aitraaz

The pati vrata patni Ishita from Yeh Hai Mohabbatein closely resembles Priya Malhotra from Aitraaz. Although she isn't a lawyer, she will do anything to save her husband from trouble.
Kanika Maheshwari in Diya Aur Baati Hum and Vidya Balan in Bobby Jasoos

Meenakshi Rathi from Diya aur Baati Hum may not be a proper investigator, but she's a self-proclaimed detective, much like Bobby in Bobby Jasoos. The ever inquisitive Meenakshi will try her best to "solve mysteries" going on around her, even though it isn't needed.
Aneri Vajani in Nisha Aur Uske Cousins and Kajol in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

The cute simple Nisha Jaiswal from Nisha aur Uske Cousins is quite similar to Anjali Sharma. Both have similar looks, both are tomboyish, and both even have secret love interests! What's more, they turn out to be even more beautiful as their age increases.
Poonam Dhillon in Ek Nayi Pehchaan and Sridevi in English Vinglish

Sharda Modi from Ekk Nayi Pehchaan may be a traditional simpleton before, but her transformation into a suave English speaking businesswoman is commendable, much like Shashi Godbole from English Vinglish. Sharda can fit in very well as Shashi; she just needs to be sent to USA.
Niti Taylor in Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan and Amrita Rao in Ishq Vishq

The behenji of Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan, Nandini Murthy, is a perfect match for the behenji of Ishq Vishq, Payal. Both are simple, nerdy but cute. Both are in love with the protagonist, and end up dating them.
