Earlier today, Home Minister Amit Shah announced a big step of revoking two key constitutional provisions Article 370 and 35(A), that gives the state of Jammu & Kashmir a host of special rights. However, this historic move will undeniably have to see the face of protests. The repeal of article 370 and 35A also means that Jammu and Kashmir will now be a Union Territory, which will surrender most of its power to the state.

Post the decision, the leaders of opposition in Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, and Omar Abdullah were placed under house arrest and the troops have increased manifold. The valley is under curfew and internet connection in the state has been cut off.

While thousands of people on Twitter are celebrating this decision for its impact, there are also many who feel otherwise. Most people are supporting the current government, while some are doubtful about what the future may bring for people in Kashmir. The hashtags,  #Article370 and #KashmirHamaraHai have been trending on social media since the announcement.

Apart from the netizens, Bollywood celebrities too have taken to their social media to express their support towards the decision. Stars like Anupam Kher, Raveena Tandon, Chetan Bhagat, Vivek Oberoi amongst others have tweeted about the same.

While the amendment had also been signed by President Ram Nath Kovind, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has condemned the move, calling it 'Betrayal Of Trust'.
