Blake Lively will take the witness stand in the upcoming trial against her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni. Her legal team confirmed this week that the actress will testify in court once proceedings begin in March 2026.
In December 2024, Lively had filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment during the shoot of their film. The case soon escalated when Baldoni responded with a defamation and extortion countersuit. Since then, both sides have engaged in what the court referred to as a “battle between PRs,” pushing the matter into intense public scrutiny.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Lively’s attorney Mike Gottlieb said, “This will be the ultimate moment for a plaintiff’s story to be told.” He added, “Of course, she’s going to testify.”
The buzz around Lively’s testimony began earlier this year after she gave a powerful speech at the TIME100 Gala. In her address, the Gossip Girl alum spoke about her mother’s survival after an alleged murder attempt by a work acquaintance. She connected it to her own experience by stating she had “so much to say about the last two years of my life,” leading to speculation about her involvement in the case.
According to Gottlieb, Lively won’t be the only one speaking in court. Other individuals from the set who claim to have either witnessed or experienced similar incidents will also testify. “We expect their testimony, particularly about what took place on set, will come out through live witness testimony,” he stated.
Lively’s team plans to go beyond personal accounts. They are reportedly preparing to present various pieces of evidence, including internal documents, communications with producers, and statements from Sony Pictures and crew members.
The legal team has made it clear that their strategy involves a combination of witness accounts and documented proof. “This is not just about what people say, it’s also about what the records and communications reveal,” Gottlieb noted.
The trial will begin on March 9, 2026. Both Lively and Baldoni are expected to appear in court as this high-profile case unfolds. Neither side has made further public comments beyond what has been shared by their legal representatives.
As of now, Sony Pictures has not issued a statement regarding the ongoing matter.
