A bunch of speculations about what will become of his TV ventures...

Salman Khan just got convicted and has been sentenced to 5 years in jail. The Bollywood biggie who has long evaded arrest has finally met with a sizeable penalty for his crimes. While fans and celebrities continue to be divided about whether or not he should be sent to jail (I don't know, does cruel annihilation of an endangered animal make the cut?) we have our gaze set elsewhere. With the sentence involved, it is needless to say that Salman will be put away for quite a long time. We can't help but wonder what his absence will mean for TV.

Bigg Boss

Colors' Bigg Boss has been a long-running franchise that garners a lot of TRPs for the channel. The last season, Bigg Boss Season 11 gained immense popularity as the host and contestants were talked about for months together. Without 'Bhai' as a face for the show, we wonder who will step in his shoes and if the series will sustain its popularity because who doesn't like their episodes with a side of grunts and glares the host is famous for.

10 Ka Dum

10 Ka Dum, the reality game show was all set to go on floors with a new season this year. We saw a trailer float about with the actor singing and rapping. The Sony TV show rides on the branding that comes with Salman Khan. The makers will face severe losses as the show is in jeopardy mid-production.

Production of a Sony TV show based on Mumbai Police

Salman Khan getting convicted rains on another parade of the channel as he was all set to star in a fiction show based on Mumbai Police (find the irony). Mukul Dev was reportedly playing the lead role and Pooja Gor of Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya fame was to be featured in the show which would be her comeback to TV after quite some time. The fate of this show too looks dicey now.

Production of Gemma Pehelwan

The Sultan actor was all set to put out a biopic of Gemma Pehelwan for TV. Talks for the show have been around for quite some time but, nothing materialised. And, now it looks like not much can be done. He was going to produce the show with Sohail Khan as the lead. We're guessing a lot many careers are riding on the A lister's name (and money).

Rounding up, the news of Salman Khan getting convicted comes with a bunch of repercussions for the TV industry. Production houses and channels alike will be at a loss. Unless, we learn that he got a 'get out of jail' free card... just by chance!
