Beyoncé and Solange Knowles' mother, Tina Knowles, has revealed her breast cancer diagnosis from last year, offering support to other women facing the same challenge. In her new autobiography, "Matriarch," Tina Knowles shares intimate details from her life, including her diagnosis with the life-threatening disease. Knowles, who always prioritized her health, expressed disbelief upon receiving the confirmation.
In an interview on CBS Mornings, she explained how doctors discovered the cancer after the pandemic caused a delay in her scheduled mammogram, which was rescheduled for last year. The cancer was detected as one non-cancerous and one cancerous tumor, both growing slowly. Knowles underwent a lumpectomy to remove the tumor in August of last year, and has since confirmed that she is cancer-free.
I struggled with whether I would share that journey because I’m very private. But I decided to share it because I think there are a lot of lessons in it for other women. And I think as women, sometimes we get so busy and we get so wrapped up in running around, but you must go get your test. Because if I had not gotten my test early, I mean, I shudder to think what could have happened to me

In the interview, Knowles discussed her daughters' reactions to the news, revealing their initial struggle to accept the diagnosis. “Beyonce took it well, staying positive, and I could already feel her mind racing, focusing on this as a task to tackle with precision, whereas Solange said, ‘Mom, we are going to take care of this.’ My girls became my team," she continued.
