The most instrumental part of a daily show's success, is usually the female protagonist and the way her character is received by the viewers.
An ideal bahu of television is someone who multi-tasks and sacrifices her own wishes for others. She is a complete people-pleaser, who runs the whole house and comes up with apt solutions to each and every problem of the house! She is an aadarsh bahu, as clichéd as it may sound, but is loved immensely by the viewers.
We list the top seven ideal bahus of this year, who survived the toughest of situations, protecting their family and maintaining harmony in their house.

Her role as a simple girl-turned-princess of a royal family was unusual, and her popularity helped the show immensely. Her sacrifices, dedication, unconditional love and the family-comes-first attitude made her an overnight favourite.
2. Helly Shah as Swara Maheshwari in Swaragini

Her character, Swara turned from a chirpy girl into an ideal bahu after countless turbulences in life, where she even faced a love triangle that involved her own sister. In spite of being forced to get married in an unanticipated situation, she still gave in her hundred percent for her responsibilities towards her husband's family.
3. Deepika Samson as Simar in Sasural Simar Ka

Her character was of an obedient, selfless and sacrificing bahu since the beginning of the show. And now with over four years of runtime, the character of Simar has only gotten stronger and more dedicated towards her family. This superhero bahu has fought daayans, naagins, black magic and what not, coming out victorious each and every time. However, the current track showcases her turning negative, being possessed by an evil spirit... but we are sure she will be soon back to her original aadarsh bahu element!
4. Devoleena Bhattacharjee as Gopi in Saath Nibhana Saathiya

An illiterate belle trying to fit in a rich family and slowly enhancing her relationship with her husband was the premise of the show. While now the couple is happily married with two kids and just like an ideal bahu, Gopi struggles hard to strike a perfect balance between her troubled daughters, a strict mother-in-law and a hard working husband, facing numerous challenges.
5. Deepika Singh as Sandhya in Diya Aur Baati Hum

The character of Sandhya changed the way the term 'ideal' was used for bahus on-screen, where just cooking food, and serving the family wasn't the prime responsibility of a bahu. It showed that an ideal bahu is one who chases her dreams and fulfils them along with serving her responsibilities towards her husband's house.
6. Mona Singh as Preet in Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do

Her character holds the entire family together and looks after everyone's happiness. In spite of her husband's alleged affair, she covers up for him and accepts him with open arms. Now how ideal can anyone get?
7. Divyanka Tripathi as Ishita in Yeh Hain Mohabbatein

The character of Ishita is undoubtedly the most ideal character any show can have! She has not only proved herself as an ideal mother, developing an adored and special bond with Ruhi (Ruhanika Dhawan) and an ideal wife to Raman (Karan Patel) but also an ideal bahu, who puts her husband's family and their issues over herself. And that's not it! Ishita Bhalla is hands down, one of the most ideal sauten that any lady can have! I mean, who else would risk her own life in order to save her husband's first wife!
