Actor Banita Sandhu is fairly fresh to the entertainment circuit of films but she did have an impressive debut with October co-starring Varun Dhawan a couple of years ago. That film was directed by Shoojit Sircar and once again, Sandhu was seen in another Sircar directed film recently in the form of Sardar Udham starring Vicky Kaushal.
Recently, in an interview with ETimes, Sandhu opened up on how depression made her better equipped to handle the stress related to COVID-19 lockdowns.
Giving a peek into how things worked out after her debut film, Sandhu revealed that she returned to her University to complete her graduation but she was having a tough time handing the mental stress at that time. So, she decided to take a year-long break to work on her mental health.
When October was released, she was in her last year of University and making a debut in showbiz took a toll on her. According to the actor, it almost drained her mentally and it was difficult to recover from the stress because Banita was not sure about her acting career’s longevity. The actor says she has never been after the buzz, quick fame or quick rewards. It’s her love for acting that inspired her to choose this profession. She also revealed how for the last three years she has been battling depression. But it has made her better equipped to handle all the stress.
She further added that just like everyone else the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on her as well. It slowed down her career but she is just grateful that she and her family sailed through the tough time.
She now hopes that with cinemas resuming operation again it will remain open and we don’t have to face yet another lockdown.
