Shivangi Verma, a talented actress and social media personality, has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. From starring in major projects to leveraging social media for career growth, she continues to evolve as an artist. In this exclusive interview, she shares insights into her journey, experiences on set, and the challenges she's overcome along the way.
Q: Badass Ravikumar was a major project for you. What was it like working alongside Himesh Reshammiya and Prabhu Deva?
Shivangi Verma: The entire journey from Mumbai to Muscat for the shoot was incredibly smooth and effortless. From day one, everything felt familiar and comfortable. My first day was all about the costume trial, and to my delight, the team was the same as my first album with Himesh Reshammiya. Seeing familiar faces instantly made me feel at home, and I knew this was going to be a special experience.
The next day, when I stepped onto the set, I saw Prabhu Deva, and what a moment that was! Despite being such a legend, he was unbelievably friendly and down-to-earth. There was not a hint of attitude—just pure passion for the craft. And, of course, working with Himesh Reshammiya again was nothing short of amazing. His energy, his dedication, and his vision make every project larger than life.
One person I can’t forget to mention is Sonia ma’am, Himesh Reshammiya’s wife, someone I truly admire. I always say this to her, and I’ll say it again—her presence makes everything feel even more special. When I rehearsed my shot, everything just clicked. And when the cameras rolled, it was a one-take shot! It was loved by everyone, and everybody appreciated it.
Q: You’ve spoken about how OTT platforms have transformed your career. How do you think streaming services have changed opportunities for actors like yourself?
Shivangi Verma: Social media has truly transformed my career. It hasn't just changed it; it has enhanced it significantly, adding more stars to it. Through social media, people have come to know me better and more deeply. Many of my casting opportunities have come directly from social media, and I believe it will continue to play a crucial role in my career's growth.
Unfortunately, social media platforms themselves don't directly support monetization for content creators like me, but it still serves as a great way to engage with people and involve them in daily activities. When I'm not acting, I focus on creating content, planning my makeup, and thinking about what to share next. This engagement indirectly provides a sense of employment and motivation, especially when I see support from fans in the form of likes and comments. These interactions mean a lot to me and have contributed a lot to my journey.
Q: What initially drew you to acting? Was there a moment when you knew this was your passion?
Shivangi Verma: Acting was something I always loved, even as a child. I used to imitate characters from movies and perform in front of the mirror. But the moment I truly knew it was my passion was when I stepped in front of the camera for the first time. The thrill, the excitement—it felt like home. That’s when I knew I belonged here.
Q: Your Instagram and social media presence have a strong following. How do you approach curating your online image?
Shivangi Verma: I keep it real. I share my work, my fun moments, and a bit of my personal side—but I don’t overthink it. I believe in staying authentic because people connect with honesty. Social media is a great way to engage with fans, and I love the positive energy it brings.
Q: Many actors face online criticism. How do you handle negativity or trolling on social media?
Shivangi Verma: Honestly, I don’t let negativity affect me. Everyone has an opinion, and not all of them will be kind. I focus on the love and appreciation I receive. If someone is spreading hate, it says more about them than me. I just keep moving forward and doing what I love.
Q: Do you think social media is essential for actors today, or do you prefer to keep some aspects of your life private?
Shivangi Verma: Social media is definitely important, but I also believe in keeping a balance. I share what I’m comfortable with, but my personal life stays personal. It’s good to let people see the real you, but some moments are just for you and your loved ones.
Q: Have you ever faced challenges in the industry, and how did you overcome them?
Shivangi Verma: Of course! The industry is not easy. There were times when I felt stuck or doubted myself, but I never gave up. Hard work, patience, and believing in myself helped me push through. Every challenge is a lesson, and I take them as stepping stones to grow stronger.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Shivangi Verma: “Stay true to yourself and trust the process.” This advice has kept me grounded. Success and failure are both part of the journey, but if you stay honest with your work and keep moving forward, everything falls into place.
With a bright future ahead, she continues to inspire fans and aspiring actors alike.
