Ayushmann Khurrana Faced Casting Couch: He Asked Me to Show Him My ‘Tool’ for a Lead Role

Apart from the starry manifestation of Bollywood, the tinsel town has its own dims and lows. The showbiz provides the stars with fame and acknowledgement but also has them mired in problems. The actors have to often face the evils of bullying, trolling and in fact harassment as well in the industry. And the horrific event of casting couch remains to be one of the most commonly faced problems by female actors in the entertainment business. 

Swara Bhaskar, Nora Fatehi, Richa Chadha among others have opened up about the horrific casting couch experience in the past. In a first, actor Ayushmann Khurrana reveals that he was sexually propositioned too.

Recalling the horrific incident, Ayushmann tells Pinkvilla: "A casting director had told me, 'I'll give you the lead role if you showed me your tool.' I told him I'm straight and I politely refused his offer."

Well, that is sure to surprise many as casting couch is often linked to only female actors but here’s proof that male actors have to face such evils in the industry too.

Ayushmann, who is now the face of many blockbuster films and also has a specific genre of socially relevant films to his name, reveals that he faced several failures at the beginning of his career. 

“Also, I'm well equipped to handle failure now because of the failures I saw at the very beginning of my career. Had I never witnessed the lows, I don't think I would be able to handle it if it came now. Everything changes every Friday. I have just been lucky to have a few great Fridays in the last two-three years” Ayushmann shares.

Ayushmann began his career as an anchor and made his film debut in 2012 with the romantic comedy Vicky Donor. With films like Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Badhaai Ho (2018), Bala (2019),  Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2020), he went on to deliver films that discussed problems and struggles of a common man.

The versatile actor also impressed the fans with splendid films like Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), Andhadhun (2018); Article 15 (2019).
