Apart from working in films, the actress has also been a part of social causes along with her mother, Mana Shetty.
Recently, when she got to know via a friend who is associated with an NGO that a village named Tambaram in Chennai has been suffering from water crisis, she thought to help by providing clean water to them.
Talking about the same Athiya said, "I got to know about it via my friend who works with a different NGO in the south. I asked my team to get in touch with someone and managed to work this out. For most of us, it's hard to imagine being thirsty and not being able to have water available. But one in ten people around the world doesn't have that luxury. In many developing countries, women and girls have to walk long hours every day just to collect water for their families. And every day about 1,400 children dies from diseases caused by unsafe water."
She further added, "My mother is the driving force for this. She is extremely passionate about causes like this and will make time to work for them."
On the work front, she was last seen in Mubarakan along with many other actors.
