We recently had the opportunity to speak with veteran actor Ashish Vidyarthi about his latest project, Marvel’s Wastelanders on Audible. Known for his versatility across films, OTT platforms, and even motivational speaking, Ashish Vidyarthi has now stepped into the realm of immersive audio storytelling by lending his voice to the iconic character of Doctor Doom. In this exclusive conversation, he shares insights about voice acting, his creative process, and the evolving landscape of entertainment.

How was your experience voicing Doctor Doom in Marvel’s Wastelanders on Audible.

Ashish Vidyarthi: It was a wonderful experience. When you are performing a character without physical acting, your voice carries the entire weight of bringing that persona to life. It’s a unique challenge, but also an exciting one.

How does the preparation for voice acting differ from traditional on-screen acting?

Ashish Vidyarthi: In voice acting, the entire imagery is created through sound. Unlike films or television, where expressions and body language play a huge role, here, the audience only has your voice to imagine the world. So, you need to be even more detailed in your performance and pay close attention to tone, pitch, and modulation.

Do you rely on your imagination while recording for such roles?

Ashish Vidyarthi: Oh yes, absolutely! You have to visualize an entire world in your mind. The soundscape plays a crucial role in setting the mood, and as an actor, you have to bring it to life just through voice. That’s what makes this kind of performance so interesting and rewarding.

You have worked across films, OTT, TV, and now audio dramas. How important is it for an actor to experiment with different mediums?

Ashish Vidyarthi: We are actors, and we can immerse ourselves in any medium. It’s not about whether we should; it’s about whether we want to. Personally, I love exploring new formats. Whether it’s films, OTT, stand-up comedy, vlogging, motivational speaking, or even music, like my rap song Tana Shahi. I am always open to experimenting. Marvel’s Wastelanders felt like an exciting new way to craft a character purely through voice, and I loved every bit of it.

With the rise of social media and new digital platforms, we often see new entertainers aiming for instant success. What are your thoughts on this trend?

Ashish Vidyarthi: It’s a misconception that only new-age influencers or entertainers want quick success. Tell me, who doesn’t want their big break right away? Every actor, regardless of generation, hopes for success as soon as possible. The real issue is that when someone new achieves fame quickly, others who have been in the industry for years may feel a sense of unfairness. But that’s human nature. Success has never been a straight path, and everyone has their own journey.

How do you see the future of audio entertainment, particularly with projects like these?

Ashish Vidyarthi: Audio storytelling will definitely grow, but the next big thing may not necessarily look the same as what we have now. The entertainment landscape is constantly evolving, and new formats will continue to emerge. The key is to stay open to new possibilities.

Can you share any upcoming projects with us?

Ashish Vidyarthi: Right now, my focus is on Marvel’s Wastelanders on Audible and I’m really happy that people are enjoying it. As for future projects, you’ll have to stay tuned to my Instagram for updates!

Ashish Vidyarthi continues to break new ground in the entertainment industry, embracing diverse roles and mediums with enthusiasm. His foray into voice acting with Marvel’s Wastelanders is just another testament to his versatility.
