Changes in television programming often reflect shifts in audience engagement and strategic planning by broadcasters. In this context, Jhanak, the daily soap on Star Plus, is now reportedly set to conclude its run. The show, which premiered in late 2023, initially featured Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja in lead roles and followed the journey of Jhanak, a young woman navigating social and familial challenges.
After running for several months, the show recently underwent a 20-year generation leap. With this transition, the narrative introduced a new set of characters, played by Arjit Taneja, Riya Sharma, and Twinkle Arora. Arjit took on the role of a police officer, Riya portrayed the daughter of Jhanak, and Twinkle appeared as a negative lead. This shift marked the exit of several original cast members, including Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja.
Despite the changes, reports suggest that the show did not see the expected improvement in viewership ratings. Industry sources indicate that the declining TRPs were a key reason behind the channel’s decision to end the series. Prior to the leap, the show had already witnessed a dip in its position on the TRP charts. The new cast and revised storyline did not reverse this trend.
In addition to the cast changes, other developments followed the leap. Actor Gaurav M. Sharma, who had been a part of the show from its early episodes, exited and was replaced by Sachal Tyagi. Several other supporting roles were recast to align with the aged characters in the new timeline.

The reboot of the iconic show will reportedly feature Smriti Irani reprising her role as Tulsi Virani. Other familiar faces from the original series, including Amar Upadhyay and Hiten Tejwani, are also expected to return in some capacity. The new show is scheduled to premiere later this month.
While no official announcement has been made regarding the final air date of Jhanak, production and scheduling changes point toward a wrap-up in the coming weeks.
