Anurag Kashyap to Play a Fearless Inspector in Adivi Sesh-Mrunal Thakur’s 'Dacoit'

Filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap is set to portray a fearless police officer in the upcoming action-packed drama Dacoit, the makers revealed.

This much-anticipated film stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, the film promises an intense story filled with action, betrayal, and revenge. Kashyap will be seen as Inspector Swamy, a staunch Ayyappa devotee who despises corruption. Having worked in South films like Maharaja, Rifle Club, Leo, and Viduthalai Part 2, Kashyap is now ready to take on a dynamic cop role.

Speaking about his character, Kashyap shared, “The conundrums of duty versus dharma, and to go about doing his job with a dry sense of humour is fantastic. I am truly looking forward to playing this character in two languages, shooting in Hindi, as well as in Telugu. To get the same impact in both the languages is the challenging part, something I am thoroughly enjoying.”

The film marks the directorial debut of Shaneil Deo, who has also co-written the screenplay with Adivi Sesh. The gripping storyline revolves around a convict seeking revenge on his ex-girlfriend for betraying him. He crafts a dangerous trap, leading to an intense face-off filled with love, deception, and vengeance.

Produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and co-produced by Suniel Narang, Dacoit is being presented by Annapurna Studios. Fans are excited to see Mrunal Thakur in a powerful role, bringing a high-octane action spectacle. She has replaced Shruti Haasan, who stepped away from the project due to personal reasons. Mrunal’s first look has already generated buzz, and reports of her substantial paycheck have further intrigued fans.
