Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has entertained us all with his films like "Gangs Of Wasseypur," "Dev D," and "Raman Raghav 2.0" and more. Yet, Kashyap's journey through the film industry has been a tumultuous one, marked by both triumphs and trials. Among his many tales, the story of his directorial debut, "Paanch," stands out as a poignant reminder of the challenges he faced in bringing his creative visions to the silver screen.

In a recent candid conversation with Cyrus Broacha on his podcast, he opens up on "Paanch," a film that never saw the light of day in theatres due to censorship hurdles. While the movie has found its way onto YouTube, Kashyap revealed that financial gains were never part of the equation for him, as he wasn't the film's producer.

He expressed gratitude for the mere opportunity to see his directorial debut come to life but acknowledged that the decision to release the film rested in the hands of its producers.

Cyrus Broacha, delving deeper into the unconventional journey of Kashyap's films, pointed out that many of them eventually found their way onto piracy websites. The filmmaker agreed to this and said, “That’s the story of my life.” He also agreed with Cyrus when he mentioned that he earned only one-eighth of what he should’ve earned, as most of his films were released on piracy websites. Kashyap said, “They used to question my morality and my character after watching my films. At that time, the critics used to be like, 'what kind of a guy is this?' when Yellow Boots came out."

"That Girl In Yellow Boots," a gripping thriller released in 2011 and directed by Anurag Kashyap, featured a stellar cast including Kalki Koechlin, Naseeruddin Shah, and Gulshan Devaiah. However, the film's release only added to the scrutiny surrounding Kashyap's work.
