'Anupamaa, GHKKPM adapted from shows of IIKRR's producer': Zaan Khan on taking up show despite the POOR TRPS

Zaan Khan, who recently entered Star Plus' Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha, starring Fahmaan Khan and Sonakshi Batra in the lead roles, recently got in an exclusive chat with India Forums and spoke about his entry in the show. The actor reveals the reason behind taking up the show despite its sinking TRPs.

Congratulations for your stint in Iss Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha. Tell us about your character Siddharth?

So, Siddharth will bring a different energy to the show. He is a successful rockstar and also judges reality shows. He will meet Meghla there and will further help her, encourage her. He will ask her to follow her dreams. He will tell her that her voice does not need anyone's support, Not even me (Siddharth), nor even anyone in life. He is the person who believes that girls should be allowed to fly, Let them do whatever they want to do in their life. So Siddharth is a very open-minded, fun-loving, energetic boy. Mastikhor bhi hai but out and out a very positive and lovable boy. He is going to fill Meghla's life with colours. She will laugh, have fun and sing. She will participate in reality shows. This is going to be his journey. How will he develop a soft corner for her or maybe he won't, writers know more about this. Let's see what happens. I am just excited and happy that everything is going well. I am glad that they gave me an opportunity in such a big show. i am grateful to Dada and Ma'am. It's a big thing for me. As you know, I like being a versatile actor. I like to play different roles. I played Gujarati in the last show. I am playing a Punjabi rock star in this show. It's a different league altogether. I am looking forward to it. I want this show to run for a long time. The original Bengali show had 1000 episodes. I want this one to have 2000 episodes. I want this show to run for a long time.

Zaan, if you know, the TRPs of the show are not very good. There have been multiple reports that the show is going off-air. It's like a sinking ship. Why did you take up the show even after knowing that there are reports of the show going off-air?

To be very honest with you,I have so wanted to work with these producers. It's been very long. They are very big producers. Anupamaa, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin are adapted from their original shows. She is a beautiful writer as well. She writes so well. You never know. If the TRP has gone down, it can come up again. The show can go on. You have to be very optimistic. This is an industry where anything can happen overnight. You have to be ready for everything in life. I am very happy that I got the opportunity. I am sure that I will give my 100%. Every other actor on the set is giving their 100%. The team is giving 100%. We are trying our best. We are changing the story. We are bringing in a new guy. We are going to show something more lively in the story. Why are we working so hard if the show had to go off air? I don't think about it. (4:06) I don't care about it. (4:08) I just want my audience, my producers, my writers, to see my work. And honestly, ye off air, on air, in sab chizon ke barey mein main sochta hi nahi hoon, mera koi lena dena hi nahi hai in sab chizo se. Ye sab audience ke hath mein hota hai. I have never complained about it in the last 6-7 years. Kitne shows aaye, kitne off air huye. That is not my department for sure.
