Saif Ali Khan's ex-wife Amrita Singh was to share screen space with Arjun Kapoor as his mother for the second time in Anees Bazmee's 'Mubarkan'. The actress earlier essayed the role of Arjun's mum in 2 States.

However, things didn't go as planned because Amrita got replaced by Ratna Pathak Shah.

According to a report in a leading tabloid, Amrita's withdrawal made the makers of the film to reschedule the whole shoot. A source was quoted saying," Amrita was to play Arjun's mother who is Anil Kapoor's elder sister. Just a few days before the film was to roll, the actress informed the team that she can't do the film. Now, Ratna's dates will have to be taken into consideration because of which the international schedule, set for December, has been pushed to next year." (sic)

The producer of the film which stars Arjun Kapoor and his uncle Anil Kapoor confirmed the news and said," Amrita couldn't do the film due to date issues and we have Ratna on board. Her portion which was initially scheduled to be shot in November-December in London will now happen sometime in January. The Punjab schedule, originally planned for January, is being shot now." (sic)

Arjun Kapoor will be seen playing a double role with name Karanjeet and Charanjeet Singh. The movie also stars Ileana D'Cruz and Athiya Shetty in lead roles. The film is slated to hit the theatres on 28th July 2017.
