Superstar Amitabh Bachchan's only daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda had recently made her on-screen debut with an advertisement. The ad which was for a jewelry brand had left an emotional connect with the audience.
While this advertisement was loved by the audience, the people of the Union Bank were left offended after watching this ad. Soumya Datta, the general secretary of All India Bank Officers' Confederation, stated in a statement, "The advertisement portrays banks in a bad light, casting aspersion, hurting the sentiment of millions of personnel, stakeholders. And is a direct attempt to ruin the trust and confidence of billions of citizenries in banks."
Furthermore, they have asked for an apology from the jewelry brand and also asked them to withdraw the advertisement.
While responding to the complainant, the jewelry brand in a letter said, "We understand that your esteemed association feels that the bankers have been portrayed in bad light. We state it on record that it is a pure fiction. And at no point, we have intended to generalize the bank officers at large."
The brand has also promised to make the necessary changes. "Please accept our unconditional disclaimer for the same. We shall within three working days from today add characters and situations depicted are fictional. The brand does not intend to disrespect or malign any person or community' before the advertisement."
