Alok Nath's wife's injunction plea rejected by Sessions Court

The #MeToo movement has become a raging issue around the World. In India too, the 

#MeToo wave has brought down many big names from the industry. Starting from Nana Patekar to Alok Nath and singer Anu Malik, the movement has provided women from around the country with a voice to speak up against sexual misconduct.

Alok Nath's wife filed an injunction against writer Vinta Nanda who had alleged that actor Alok Nath had raped her 19 years ago, to restrain her from making any statement in public against the rape accused till the defamation suit is decided.

But today, the sessions court rejected actor Alok Nath's wife's application for an injunction order against writer Vinta Nanda

In the hearing on Thursday, Alok Nath's lawyer, Ashok Saraogi questions Vinta Nanda's "rape" charge, saying that even hangover causes pain, while Vinta's lawyer Dhruti Kapadia asks that what has a woman to gain by saying that she was raped.

Ashok Saraogi, stated that Alok Nath had been given the nickname sanskari' by the virtue of his good character and resorted to character assassination in his defense. Referring to Vinta's Facebook post in which she admitted to smoking, drinking and being a liberated woman, Saraogi noted, "This is how she certifies her character."

Describing her as a "storyteller", Alok Nath's lawyer dismissed Vinta's narrative that she drank herself silly and was in depression for 10 years, as "fiction".

"A person is unconscious, over a drink and does not know when she reached her home and who took her there. She just realised that she has experienced pain, but she doesn't say where the pain is. After drinking you get a hangover, that too causes pain," Saraogi challenged.

Actors Deepika Amin, Sandhya Mridul, Renuka Shahne and Himani Shivpuri have also backed Vinta's allegations against Alok Nath.
