Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's upcoming flick based on the life of The Flying Sikh, Milkha Singh, has garnered a lot of interest, especially from prospective candidates vying for the role! The movie is tentatively titled Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

The director, who has described the subject material as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for any actor, has been up and about for his lead face hunt since the month of May. Initially, the tough choice had been between Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan.  But Milkha Singh, the famous Indian athlete himself, seems to be a fan of Akshay and has been rooting for him to land the role. Punjabi link much?! One can't help but wonder!

However, the recent success of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara seems to have pushed actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar into the running as well.  If the actor does give his nod, not to mention emerge victor from among the aspiring three, then this will be his first project outside of his own production house, Excel Entertainment.

The movie, which is scheduled to hit the floors next year, will trace the athlete's story from his childhood in today's Pakistan, the partition and his rise to becoming one of India's greatest athlete's post Independence.

Here's wishing the team the very best of luck in this exciting new venture!
