Akshay Kumar issues apology & steps back from brand after huge backlash

Actor Akshay Kumar found himself in quite a pickle recently and it wasn't related to his acting projects.

Kumar, who is very active with signing on for multiple brands became the recent entrant to the 'Vimal universe'.

As known, the brand already had the likes of Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan on board and now witnessed the entry of Kumar as well.

However, this led to immense backlash from everyone on Kumar on how, after preaching for and about never taking up and and doing ads which endorse gutka and likewise, he signed on for this.

An array of memes were shared as well only slamming and mocking Kumar even more.

And hence, it seems this had affected Kumar indeed as he decided to step back from the brand and even issue an apology-

He tweeted with the emoji of hands being folded and his statement read, "I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will never endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee to a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract is upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making ny future choices. In return I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes - Akshay Kumar'
