With her breathtaking appearances at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is turning heads. The actress discussed her four-year absence from the silver screens there.

The Devdas actress branded herself as a "proverbial turtle" in an interview with a news outlet, explaining why she hasn't released anything in the last several years. According to her, the previous two years were a natural stop for everyone due to the epidemic. The actress remarked that she is a realist who understands her priorities.

Aishwarya further elaborated, saying she has never been bothered about not having back-to-back releases or the perspective that would bring.

The actress went on to say that she is pleased she concentrated on reality rather than the reason she hasn't done a film in two years.

Meanwhile, she will appear in Mani Ratnam's forthcoming film 'Ponniyin Selvan'. In the film, the actress will have a dual part. The plot centres around Prince Arulmozhi Varman, who subsequently becomes the Chola Dynasty's Raja Raja Chozhan. Kalki's novel 'Ponniyin Selvan' was made into a film.

The film also stars Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, and Parthiban in key roles. The music for the movie is composed by AR Rahman.
