After Piya Albela, Akshay Mhatre Bags Sony TV’s Next

Renowned Producer Jay Mehta has created shows like Rab Se Sona Ishq, Ekk Nayi Pehchaan, Jeet Gayi Toh Piya Morey, Jiji Maa and its current show Gathbandhan, which airs on Colors has managed to do well in terms of TRP. The last we heard was that the production house was coming up with a new show for Sony TV. Now, the latest buzz suggests that the makers have finally found the male lead for the upcoming show.

As per reports, actor Akshay Mhatre who played the lead in Zee TV’s Piya Albela has once again bagged a lead role. Yes, you read it right! The actor will be seen playing the protagonist in Sony TV’s upcoming show, which is yet to be named. He’ll play a character whose mother struggles in speaking English. It will be a finite series and will be shot overseas, mostly in London.

The show is loosely inspired from the Bollywood film English Vinglish and focus more on the mother’s character, who will be determined to learn English. If reports are to be believed, the makers are looking for a veteran Bollywood actress, who can pull off the mother’s part.
