After all these years, Aatish REVEALS why Instant Khichdi was SHUT down!

If you have been a huge fan of the Khichdi franchise, you would certainly have had your doubts on how the show was shut down multiple times, both on Star Plus and Star One.

Over 16 years ago, people were in for a laugh riot and an absolute treat as Khichdi went on-air as a weekly show on Star Plus in 2002. After running for almost 2 years, the show was then shifted to Star One, as the new youth channel was launched.

Khichdi was refurbished as Instant Khichdi for the channel and was airing as a daily soap.

But, as a shock to many, the show was pulled off-air in a mere month only after airing 37 episodes or so.

Many thought that it was due to lack of ratings and other reasons. But, after all this while, in a vis--vis conversation with Aatish himself, the director revealed why did the makers actually pull Instant Khichdi off-air. 

He said, "Contrary to everyone's belief, we did not pull the show off-air due to low ratings. Infact, we went to the channel and asked them to shut it down. The channel was shocked when we said we want to shut Instant Khichdi down. It was actually the number 2 show on Star One, and yet we wanted to shut it. But, that was because I came to know that I am repeating myself at so many instances, I am presenting the same gags, just in a recycled manner. And not that, we had around 5 shows running on-air, we had only 2 shows, but we told them, we want to shut it down. They respected us and did so."

Well, let's just say, we hope the makers realize this when they run a monotonous soap for years and years.
