'Aditya has a strong reason behind hiding the truth' - Amit Jain

Amit Jain who shot to fame with his portrayal of a flamboyant Ronit in his first serial Yeh Meri Life Hai, also essays the role of Pranav Shah in Sony's Thodi Khushi Thodi Gham. As his current show Thodi Khushi Thodi Gham is all set to wrap up, the good news is that Amit has his hands full with his new show Mere Apne on 9X.

Amit chatted with our Telly Buzz team offering up dish on the upcoming show, how his character will be caught between his family and his wife and about his experience with the costars of the show.

What made you take up this role?

It is a very good learning experience to be cast with two biggies, Smriti Irani and Vinod Khanna. As an actor, it is really good in terms of footage, and more so because my role is totally different, from what I have done till now.

Tell us about the character you are playing?

My character Aditya, is the blue-eyed boy of his father, his father's expectations towards him is very high. As the story moves on, his character will always be on the edge, and more of conflicts arise that will lead to more misery and trauma.

Can you reveal more about the storyline of the show?

Aditya, who has returned from USA is already married to Saniya, but his family does not know of it till now. As soon as he lands in Benaras, his father plans the custom of 'Barcha' which is similar to 'Roka' with Abha, the girl who loves him from childhood, played by Mihika. Aditya wants to tell the truth to his family, but situations are such that, he just cannot say it. His father has invited the whole of Benaras for the function, and he just cannot put down his father's prestige and commitment before all. On the other hand, he has his wife, who is very eager to get into the family.. So Aditya is really in a dilemma.

So how does he come out of this dilemma?

I cannot reveal much as of now, but the viewers will get to know the reason behind Aditya's silence. He has a severe and a strong reason behind hiding the truth, which the audience will know by the 15th episode or so..

How has your experience been with your co-stars on the sets of Mere Apne ?

Smriti is an amazing person to work with, she is very chilled out. Vinodji, is a great influence to all, in the presence of such good actors, even a non actor learns to perform, that's the beauty. Gauri, I and Sid have struck from day one; we got introduced to each other, in Indore, when we were shooting for the Title Track. We spent time together, dined out, went for boating, so we three share a great friendship. I met Aashka later, but from scene one, we were involved in romantic scenes, where I was not that comfortable. But Aashka made things easier for me, and working with her is great. Mihika is also really nice to work with. In fact, they both are from Smriti's Virrudh, so I was the new one here.. But I guess everyone around helped me thro' the tough phase, and I am fine, and enjoying my work now..

You're shooting the final episodes of Thodi Khushi Thodi Gham now ... are you ready for it to be over?

Thodi Khushi Thodi Gham was really a fascinating experience. We have been together for quite some time now, so we are just like a family. We really had a ball at shoot, all including the director used to play around, and in between shoots, we ended up playing cards; I wonder how we shot scenes in the midst of all the fun.(laughs) I will really miss working with the unit, but we have promised each other that we all would get together again in the near future in another serial.
